Our class of 1968 had many members who answered the call of their country and risked life and limb for our defense. We honor and thank each classmate listed below for their service.
We have tried to identify the veterans from our class. We suspect that we have missed some and welcome additions to this list. If you are a veteran or know of a classmate who served, please send an email with as much detail as possible. Additionally, we would like to include a paragraph concerning each veteran's details of service. If you wish that to be included, please send.

William Louis Vaspory
Sergeant, Army of the United States
November 6, 1949 - April 2, 1970
Killed in action in South Vietnam
Bill was trained and served in aircraft maintenance. On April 2, 1970 he was a crew member on UH-1H, a helicopter nick-named "Tiger Surprise". The helicopter was hit in the cabin by a B-40 rocket, crashed and burned. The pilot and co-pilot survived with injuries but Bill and four other crew members died.
The following story is related by another one of our veterans, Gary Terborg:
"I was sitting in Dottie Herbst's home room and doing some last minute homework. Bill Vaspory came in and sat down behind me and tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around and he had a very bleak look on his face and he said 'you know Gary, I feel like I'm going to wind up in Vietnam in a couple of years and get killed there.' I replied to him, no Bill, you are just having a bad day, you'll be okay. I didn't think about that anymore until exactly two years later in the spring of my sophomore year at OU when I got a call from my parents telling me that Bill had been killed in Vietnam. That hit me like a truck. I still can't forget it and think about it almost every day. Bill was the real hero of our class. Please don't forget about him."
